  • No Talking Instead of Nonkilling, by Ada Aharoni

    The politicians decided
We do not talk with the enemy
We will beat them because they attack us
We will shed their blood and the blood of their children
    But most of all -

No Talking! Instead of No Killing!

In the meantime, in Sderot in Israel
Blood flows and legs are blown away
And little eight year old Twitee
    will not play football anymore

    An in the meantime,
in Gaza, little eight year old Mohamed
    walks with crutches and
    will never play football anymore
    But most of all -

No Talking! Instead of No Killing!

Where can we find the leaders who will talk?
Where can we find humane leaders
who will fly the Nonkilling flag?

I watch from the side and weep
    With all the nonkilling people,
    And write nonkilling poems
    in the hope of creating
    a brave new nonkilling world.
